Gregorio Lavilla aboard his Airwaves Ducati has taken the race one win at Brands Hatch for the first round ofBritish Superbike Championship.
Superbike Rookie, Leon Camier posted a second place finish and the final place on the podium was pole sitter Johnny Rea on the HM Plant Honda.
In his haste to get into the lead during the race Lavilla made contact with Camier at Druids hairpin, bashing fairings and unsettling both bikes. It wasn’t until lap seven that Lavilla got his way, and slipped past Camier.
Shane Byrne proved his knowledge of Brands can translate into a top class finish, pushing Haslam back then overtaking Chris Walker who was relegated to fifth place by Byrne, who get by him at Hawthorns on the final lap.
