Bridewell notches 9th in BSB

Tommy Bridewell notched up a pair of 9th places in the weekend’s British Superbike races at Knockhill in Scotland.

The delighted young rider campaigns a GSXR1000 Suzuki in the Mirror.co.uk privateer BSB Cup class of the BSB championship. Bridewell returned to the series after a poor start to the season in Italy riding a World Supersport machine, and is obviously feeling happier in BSB.

The main rival for Bridewell in both Knockhill races was Gary Mason, the Cup series leader, and a pair of exciting battles developed in the BSB races around the short Fife circuit. In race one, Bridewell was the first Suzuki home, and in race two Tommy pushed his way through from a mid-place position to challenge Mason for a top ten place once again. Eventually Tommy overtook Mason, despite feeling pain from his broken leg and struggling with his rear tyre.

Team Manager Marcus Bridewell rejected rumours that Bridewell’s bike was modified outside the rules, after the excellent results. “There is no way we would cheat, everything was totally legal.”

Both BSB races were won by Leon Camier, with Stu Easton second in race one and Josh Brookes runner up in race two.

The team are now hoping that Tommy’s performances will catch the eye of a factory team.
