Donington Six Nations 2009

Alastair Seeley was the star rider at the MotoSix Nations Challenge race meeting, held at Donington over the weekend.

Three victories for Seeley put the Northern Ireland rider well ahead on points, and with two sidecar class podiums for Ulster’s John Clarke and Stuart Graham, who finished in second place in both sidecar events, it was hard for other nations to catch up with the Province’s finest road racing talent.

Richard Cooper for England scored a solo race victory, with some superb battles against Seeley in Superbike and Supersport classes. One race saw Cooper beaten by just 0.07 of a second at the flag – how close can you get?

The organisers were pleased with the quality of the racing and the response from riders, teams and spectators alike, so the MotoSix Nations Challenge is pencilled in for next season.

Robert Fearnell from Donington Park commented; “The racing has been a great success and we see this being a regular event at Donington in the future.” JimParker of the ACU also praised the event, “The sport needs innovative ideas like this.” he added.
