Dunlop ready to race

Dunlop tyres are gearing up for the 2009 road racing season, confident that their tyres will perform well in the KTM and Harley-Davidson one-make race series, where Dunlops are the only specified tyres used.

UK riders will battle it out on KTM RC8 and H-D XR1200 machines this season, which is bound to offer spectators some dramatic action, especially in the Harley series, where the XR1200 all-rounder will be drifting sideways out of a few hairpins no doubt.

Dunlop are also backing riders in the Aprilia Superteen, 125GP and 250cc classes this year, all proving grounds for emerging talent. James Toseland came up via Superteens and Neil Hodgson was once backed by Carole Nash Insurance in the UK 125 GP series.

Over in Ireland some 100 riders will exclusively use Dunlop race tyres, in events such as the NW200, which may well see an action-packed return from the Norton rotary race machine this year. Here’s one more fact for your pub quiz; the Dunlop bike racing tyres are still made in Britain, at the Fort Dunlop plant in Erdington.
