Buell ready for night race
The annual Daytona motorcycle race meeting is one of the highlights for many UK race fans, who take advantage of relatively cheap flights to Florida to attend. The custom shows are there main attraction of Bike Week, but some will find the racing is interesting to watch and as Americans don’t like road racing much, there’s always a seat at Daytona raceway.
This year fans will be able to experience something new at Daytona – a night race. The Daytona 200 will be run on March 6th, during the evening and Buell have a six-strong entry in the prestigious event. The bikes will all be 1125R models, entered by various Buell dealerships across the USA.
Bruce Rossmeyer’s RMR team have Mike Barnes and Danny Eslick on board, a mixture of experience and raw novice talent.
“We have learned a lot from racing in the Moto ST class,” said RMR’s Richie Morris, ” but the competition will be intense at Daytona. We have a veteran and a young gun, so we’ve covered all the bases.”
The 200 mile event will be a chance for Buell to prove that their new liquid-cooled race machine can go the distance against mainstream Japanese competition.
