Burgess to follow Rossi to Ducati

Yamaha crew chief Jerry Burgess has confirmed that he will follow Valentino Rossi to Ducati in 2011.

Burgess, who has been a part of Rossi’s garage for eleven years, followed the Italian from Honda to Yamaha in 2004 and will make the move to the Ducati garage for the 2011 season when Rossi changes allegiance at the end of this year.

Rossi has made no secret of the fact that he would like the Australian to follow him to Ducati, previously stating; “Jerry stays with me until I retire,” and Burgess has since confirmed that he will be working with the former World Champion next year.

“I’ve spoken to Ducati and I think it is all going to work out fairly well,” said Burgess.

“Motorsport is cyclic. There has been dominance by Honda and then over the past decade by Valentino and for much of that time with Yamaha.

“Now I think there is great potential to achieve something together on the other side.”
