Bwin extends involvement with MotoGP

Leading online sports bookmaker bwin.com has given MotoGP organisers a financial boost by extending their sponsorship of the Spanish, Portuguese, San Marino and Czech Republic Grand Prixs.

The betting giant, who has been involved with MotoGP since 2004, will continue their title sponsorship of Grand Prixs in Jerez and Estoril whilst maintaining a significant circuit presence when the MotoGP championship arrives in Misano and Brno.

There are currently no financial details on the deal but it will nonetheless come as a relief for Dorna bosses following the surprise withdrawal of the Grupo Francisco Hernando team and amid constant speculation over the Kawasaki-backed Hayate Racing Team in light of the economic downturn.

Speaking on the new agreement, bwin Head of International Sport Marketing Andrea Gaudenzi claimed: “As we remain fully committed to the MotoGP World Championship it is only natural for us to renew our partnership with Dorna Sports. MotoGP broadcasting reaches hundreds of millions of viewers throughout Europe and the world. It has become one of the most exciting sports events out there and fits perfectly with the bwin brand.”

Dorna’s Managing Director Pau Serracanta adds: “During the years of our partnership, bwin has proven to be a significant and reliable partner for MotoGP with lots of drive and innovation. No question, bwin provides MotoGP with extra horsepower.”
