Byrne desperate for Brands success
Shane Byrne has admitted that he is desperate to win this weekend as he looks to extend his British Superbike Championship lead at the Brands Hatch triple header.
The HM Plant Honda rider leads the standings by 32 points over Suzuki’s John Hopkins as he heads into the tripe-header at his home circuit, with just six races left until the ‘showdown’.
And ‘Shakey’ has admitted that he is very much looking forward to racing at his home circuit, adding that he is desperate to add to his win at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit earlier in the year.
“I am obviously looking forward to Brands Hatch as it is my home round and I do have such good memories from there,” said Byrne. “I desperately want to win this weekend and I know we have the Kawasaki World Superbike team also racing, but that won’t change my goal and the races are going to be ones to watch!
“We won on the Indy circuit at the opening round but you can’t really compare the two, all I know is that I need to concentrate solely on winning again as we haven’t in the past rounds. I know we have had the pace but it just hasn’t worked out, but this weekend will be so important for the championship with three races and we will be pushing hard to make sure we stay ahead at Brands Hatch.”
