Camier wins the championship with three rounds to spare.
Leon Camier was planning a massive celebration on Sunday after securing the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone.
Camier, who has dominated the championship from the start with 16 wins from 23 races before this weekend, took a race one victory at Silverstone ahead of teammate James Ellison to wrap up the championship with four races to spare.
“It’s a dream come true to become British Superbike Champion. I have to thank everyone who has helped me get here.
“The first race was one of the hardest of the season for me. I was pushing so hard and there were some places where I was a bit out of control. I kept trying to make passes, but they weren’t working out. Thankfully it all turned out ok in the end, it’s an unbelievable feeling to know I’ve finally done it!”
The pair traded positions in race two, with Camier finishing runner up to Ellison in yet another dominant display for Airwaves Yamaha.
The team, who secured their BSB 100th race victory and fifth constructor’s championship earlier this year, have clocked up race wins in all but two races this season although speculation still surrounds their future in BSB, with suggestions that GSE Racing, the company that owns Airwaves Yamaha, could move to World Superbikes.
