Camier not expecting easy ride at BSB finale
Leon Camier is expecting a tough test at Oulton Park as the 2010 British Superbike Championship draws to a close this weekend.
The Airwaves Yamaha rider, who clinched the championship at Silverstone two weeks ago, believes that visitors to Oulton Park this weekend will enjoy some thrilling racing as the leading riders go into the final round with nothing to lose.
Camier is likely to bow out of the British Superbike Championship at this weekend’s triple-header, with a move to World Superbikes looking almost certain but the 23-year-old is expecting a tough weekend from the likes of teammate James Ellison and Honda’s Josh Brookes as he looks to round off the perfect season.
“Oulton Park is one of the best circuits of the season, it’s fast and flowing and great for overtaking, but now I have wrapped up the title everybody has nothing to lose at the final round,” he told the BSB website.
“I was put to the test at Silverstone at the previous round and I only just had an answer to James in race one, so he is going to be there again and I think Josh Brookes will be fast. I can see there is going to be a real battle for the final three wins of the season as everyone will be giving it everything on track.”
Teammate Ellison is also looking forward to the weekend but was disappointed that the season was ending just as it appeared that he was coming into form.
“I’m so excited about this weekend, but also disappointed it’s the final round,” he claimed. “The past three race meetings have gone better and better for me. We’ve made small changes here and there, and now the Airwaves Yamaha is really working for me. It’s a shame we couldn’t have got to this point earlier, but the Championship now belongs to Leon and all I can do is go out there, top Practice, and try and win all three races.”
