Camier roars to eighth pole of season
Leon Camier soared to his eighth pole position of the season, ahead of tomorrow’s British Superbike double header at Croft.
The 23 year-old Airwaves Yamaha rider had been quickest all weekend, until a late surge from the Hydrex Honda of Stuart Easton briefly stole the top spot in qualifying two, demoting Camier to second for the first time all weekend.
As the Rolle for Pole unfolded, Camier returned to his seemingly natural place at the top of the times, when he put in the quickest time to secure yet another pole position. Simon Andrews, on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki, managed to slip into second on the grid for tomorrow’s first race, while Easton slid into third.
Josh Brooks rode to a “surprising” front row start, securing fourth as the session progressed, while Camier’s Airwaves Yamaha teammate, James Ellison will be starting the first of tomorrow’s thrilling races from fifth on the grid.
Mirror.co.uk Cup leader, Gary Mason, put in another sterling performance to not only win top spot in that championship battle, but also sixth overall. Tommy Hill, Ian Lowry, Graeme Gowland and Chris Walker completed the top ten following an enthralling Roll for Pole qualifying session.
Sylvain Guintoli experienced difficulties in the Roll for Pole spectacular, when with just four minutes of the session completed he crashed out at the Complex part of the circuit. The French ace was forced to return to the garage and continue on the spare bike. As a result he will be starting tomorrow’s opening race from 17th on the grid, after being knocked out in qualifying one.
