Capirossi warns Suzuki over testing progress

Loris Capirossi has warned Suzuki that they are still nowhere near where they need to be if they are to challenge for podiums in 2010.

The Italian veteran has claimed that despite testing new parts, including exhausts, top fairing and chassis, the Suzuki GSV-R is still not up to standard if the team is to start achieving what it should be capable of next season.

“The improvement is not enough and we are still far away,” he claimed. “Everything together we tried in Valencia only gave us a couple of tenths (of a second).

“But we are still more than one second away and this is the problem.

The Italian expressed particular concerns over the bike in cold weather conditions, with concerns that the Suzuki does not generate enough heat into Bridgestone’s tyres.

He added: “Our bike is too sensitive in weather conditions. If it is hot then we have a chance to get temperature into the tyre. But if it is cool or cold then we are in a crisis.

“The big problem is the chassis because we are not able to put enough weight on the tyres to create any grip or traction. This problem existed when I joined Suzuki two years ago and we still have it.”
