Checa confident ahead of Misano

World Superbike championship leader Carlos Checa is in confident mood as he heads to Misano this weekend, with the veteran rider confident that he can back up his dominant performance at Miller Park.

Checa leads the championship by 61 points after a dominant performance in the USA last month, where he claimed a clean sweep of two race victories, a Superpole and two fastest laps, giving him six wins from ten races so far this season.

And the satellite Ducati rider has claimed that Misano is a track that should suit his style, especially after a test at the San Marino circuit earlier this season.

“Misano is a strong track for us,” he claimed. “We carried out testing here after the Monza race and the results were very positive, very constructive. During those tests we made some improvements to the bike and so I’m feeling very confident ahead of this next race.

“It will depend on the tyres that will be made available; we’ll see if they provide the same sensation as we had in testing. We know who will be strong, it’s a track where Melandri, Biaggi and Corser go very well – it will undoubtedly be a close race! I’m hoping for good weather as, after the unstable conditions at Miller, it would be nice to race in the sun.”
