Corser and BMW looking for clever solutions at Salt Lake City
BMW rider Tory Corser has claimed that the team needs to be “clever” as they head to the United States this Bank Holiday weekend as they look to continue their progress in the WSB championship.
With 105 points already to his name, Corser has impressed so far in the championship this season with a number of encouraging results, most notably a podium in Monza earlier this month, but the Australian is expecting a tougher test this weekend at the Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City.
Last year, BMW endured a nightmare in the US, with Corser failing to score in race two and his teammate Ruben Xaus failing to score in either race. That result has sprung the team into action for this weekend, with work being done to address problems with both the engine and chassis.
“Last year we didn’t have our best weekend in the States,” admitted Corser. “We just couldn’t keep pace with the top riders and teams.
“Salt Lake City lies at a higher altitude than all the other circuits on the calendar, and that has an impact on engine output. But that’s not our main problem. The area we need to work on most is the chassis.
“The key here is to be clever with our chassis settings to increase mechanical grip, so that the electronics have to cut in as little as possible. I’ve got a few ideas which I’m keen to put into action at Salt Lake City.”
