Corser expects podium finish in Phillip Island
BMW’s Troy Corser is confident that the team can start becoming a regular feature on WSB podiums in 2010, starting with next weekend’s opener in Phillip Island.
Speaking ahead of this week’s pre-season test in Australia, the final chance for teams and riders to fine-tune their machines before the season, Corser believes that the team has made massive strides since their debut season last year and that the target of a “top three to five” finish in 2010 meant that the team had to start recording podium finishes.
And the former Yamaha rider claimed that “nothing less than a podium” will do in next weekend’s season opener on Corser’s home circuit.
“I’m ready to go,” he claimed. “I am fully fit and I’m over the shoulder injury that hampered me late last year.
“We’ve made big big improvements in the BMW. The power delivery of the engine is a lot more how I like it and the chassis has a far better feel.
“This year we realistically see us on the podium.
“We’ve set ourselves a goal of top three to five in the championship and hopefully winning a few races along the way.
“You know that Phillip Island is my track, and I’m going for nothing less a podium next weekend.”
