Crutchlow pleased with first Valencia test despite crash
Cal Crutchlow was in positive mood after his first official stint on the Yamaha M1, despite a crash during the first day of testing in Valencia.
The former World Supersport rider will represent Britain with the Tech 3 Yamaha team in 2011 and, after an unofficial test in Japan earlier this year, Crutchlow was pleased to get his first session under his belt, despite the wet conditions.
“It’s been really good, nice to get out there and when the track finally dried we were all out,” he told MotoGP.com. “It’s been good to get up to speed and work with the team.”
But the 25-year-old did experience his first crash on a MotoGP bike, slipping in the wet conditions midway through the session, but he claimed that there were no ill-effects.
“We had put a new tyre in on that run, a harder front tyre, and I don’t know if the track was dirty with the rain, but I managed to crash for no reason!”
“We had less brake pressure, less corner speed, and managed to crash so no-one really knows why. I think it was just the harder front tyre so we’ll go back to the soft tomorrow and keep working with that, and make sure we do some more laps.”
