Crutchlow wins Magny Cours pole

Cal Crutchlow scored another Superpole win at Magby Cours this afternoon, as the final round of the 2010 World Superbike Championship got underway.

On his way to pole position, the British rider also secured a new best lap around the French circuit, with a time of 1m37.699 seconds. Joining the Yamaha Sterilgarda rider on the front row is Sylvain Guintoli in second and Jakub Smrz in third, with the newly crowned 2010 WSB Champion Max Biaggi in fourth.

Keeping an eye on the front row, the second row will see Michel Fabrizio start fifth, with Jonathan Rea sixth and double winner last time out Carlos Checa in seventh. Noriyuka Haga will complete the second row with an eigth place start.

Troy Corser made his mark on the top ten by qualifying ninth, with Biaggi’s season-long title rival Leon Haslam rounding out the top ten.

Narrowly missing out on the top ten, Tom Sykes qualified twelfth, with fellow Brits Shane Byrne and James Toseland setting the fourteenth and fifteenth quickest time, whilst Ian Lowry was the remaining Brit in eighteenth.

Commenting on his pole position, Crutchlow told the official WSB website: “It’s nice to be going into my last World Superbike race before I head off, with a pole position. It’s a good reward for Yamaha, they have put their trust and faith in me so to give them a pole is good and I want to make it a race win tomorrow that’s for sure. We’ve struggled with a few things over the weekend, but maybe found something in the Superpole. We’ll see tomorrow, it’s going to be entertaining!”
