De Angelis confirmed for Brno
Interwetten Honda have confirmed that Alex de Angelis will continue to stand in for the injured Hiroshi Aoyama at this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix.
The former Gresini Honda rider has stood in for the injured Aoyama, who broke a vertebrae at Silverstone back in June, for the past two rounds, picking up twelfth place finishes at Laguna Seca and Sachsenring.
And De Angelis, who has struggled for results in Moto2 this season, will continue to deputise for the current 250cc champion in Brno, as the MotoGP paddock returns following a three week summer break.
“I am happy that once again I am on the MotoGP Honda in Brno,” de Angelis said.
“Honda will give me some new electronic parts which will help to make the set up of the bike easier. The test after Brno will be very important for me to get a better feeling with the bike. Now there are at least two races remaining for me in MotoGP and I hope that they will be better than the two before. Brno is a very fast track and I like to go fast, so I hope I can get the team a better result.”
Interwetten Honda manager, Daniel M. Epp, added: “The first two races were full of set up work with the bike and Alex didn’t have much space for experiments. Brno is a fast and aggressive track, which suits Alex’s riding style. I hope that he can demonstrate better what he is capable of doing here.”
