De Angelis finishes wet Moto2 test on top
Alex de Angelis overcame difficult conditions in Jerez to finish the final day of Moto2 testing on top of the time sheets.
The former Gresini Honda rider took his Scot Moto2 machine around the Spanish circuit in a time of 1:55.280 - 0.751 faster than former MotoGP teammate Toni Elias, who has impressed during the three day session on the Moriwaki Gresini bike.
In a closely fought session in wet conditions, just 1.14 seconds separated Elias from British rider Scott Redding in tenth place, with the youngster making big improvements from previous tests in Barcelona.
The Tech 3 duo of Raffaele De Rosa and Yuki Takahashi were third and fourth fastest on day three, ahead of Mike Di Meglio and Mattia Pasini.
Former Kawasaki MotoGP rider Anthony West was seventh fastest on the MZ Racing bike whilst another former Grand Prix rider, de Angelis’ Scot teammate, Niccolo Canepa, struggled to make an impression as he recorded the 17th fastest time.
The third and final official pre-season Moto2/125cc test is scheduled for March 27-29, again at Jerez
