Don’t write off Rossi, warns Crutchlow

Cal Crutchlow has warned his new MotoGP rivals not to write off former World Champion Valentino Rossi when he tales to the grip on a Ducati next season.

Rossi will leave Yamaha at the end of the season to join Ducati, riding what has been a notoriously difficult bike in recent years but Crutchlow, who will himself move to MotoGP with Yamaha Tech 3 in 2011, has said that if anybody can tame the Desmosedici, it is Rossi.

“I think you will see Valentino win on the Ducati next year for sure,” the 24-year-old told PA Sport.

“A lot of people are writing him off and that is one thing you should never do as far as I’m concerned.

“I can see him finding his feet straight away and doing exactly what he did when he first went to Yamaha.

“No-one expected him to win then and he did, and the same applies now.”

Crutchlow also admitted that he is relishing the opportunity to race against his hero next season, describing Rossi the best that there has ever been in motorcycle racing.

“I’ve got a few heroes in racing but none more than Valentino,” he added.

“From my point of view there has never been anyone better in the history of motorcycle racing.

“He is someone I look up to but someone I will be competing against next year now.

“I respect my competitors and I can’t wait to be involved in it.”
