Eight Brits to fly flag in GP paddock
Eight riders will fly the flag for Britain in the 2011 Grand Prix paddock, with MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow being joined by three Brits in Moto2 and four in the 125 series.
Crutchlow will be Britain’s sole representative in the premier class championship, following a year with no British involvement in 2010, after signing for Monster Tech 3 Yamaha but the former World Supersport champion will have plenty of company in the paddock in 2011, with a strong British contingent in the support classes.
Oxfordshire born Bradley Smith, a relative veteran in the MotoGP support classes despite being just 20 years of age, will race for Tech 3 in the Moto2 class. He will be joined by Scott Redding, who has earned another year at Marc VDS Racing after showing promise in the second half of last season, and 21 year-old Scottish rider Kev Coghlan, who races with the FTR chassis for Motorsport 69.
In the 125 championship, Danny Webb is the most experienced British name on the entry list, riding for the Indian team Mahindra Racing in 2011, and he will be joined by rookie trio Danny Kent, Harry Stafford and Taylor Mackenzie, former British Superbike champion Niall.
