Elias has screws removed in hand and ankle

Toni Elias was back under the knife this week as the Moto2 champion underwent an operation to have screws removed from his left hand and right ankle.

Elias, who will move back to MotoGP in 2011 with the LCR Honda team, had an operation at the Teknon Clinic in Barcelona on Tuesday evening to remove the screws from, which were inserted back in March following a crash during Moto2 testing at Jerez.

Elias stayed in the clinic overnight and left on Wednesday morning, confident of a trouble-free rehabilitation.

“I had a peaceful night and I have to say it is a lot less painful than I expected,” ElĂas told motogp.com. “This was a good time to have this operation, because now I have plenty of time to recover ahead of the Test in February. After 15 days I’ll start a full rehabilitation.”
