Embassy gets Triumph Backing
British Supersport newcomers Embassy Racing will be able to count on the backing of Triumph in their debut season.
Embassy has been confirmed as the official Triumph factory team for the 2008 British Supersport season and will be the exclusive official user of the British marque’s Daytona 675 during the British Supersport season in 2008.
Embassy’s 2007 Superstock champion Glen Richards will be joined by fellow Australian and long-time Triumph factory test rider Paul Young for the team’s BSS debut.
Embassy, who have made their name in car racing, highlighted their two-wheel pedigree last season as Richards, in his rookie season, rode their Yamaha to the Superstock championship and team principal Jonathan France claimed that several names were in talks to give their backing to the new name in British Supersports.
“I was truly blown away by the efforts of the Moto division in its first year, and I had no hesitation in looking to upgrade our programme for 2008” said France.
“Having a winning team always makes negotiations a little more exciting and although we had a couple of very generous and tempting offers from Japanese brands, as soon as Triumph was brought into the mix, this was always going to be my favoured route.”
Triumph UK Marketing Manager, Andrea Friggi added: “Although Embassy is new to two wheel racing, they have an excellent reputation and their credentials are second to none.
“We saw how they operated last year in the Superstock Championship and they impressed us with their professionalism and positive attitude.”
