Fabrizio fastest in final WSB test
Michel Fabrizio topped the time charts on the second and final day of testing at Phillip Island today ahead of the start of the World Superbikes championship this weekend.
The Xerox Ducati rider who, along with teammate Noriyuki Haga, has struggled to impress in pre-season, posted a time of 1:31.650 in a tightly contested second day of testing which saw just 0.03 of a second separate the top three.
Shane Byrne continued to impress with the second fastest time of the day on his satellite Althea Ducati and it was another satellite Ducati ridden by Jakub Smrz that completed the top three. The Althea Ducati of Carlos Checa came fourth, some three tenths of a second off the pace.
Jonathan Rea was the quickest Honda in Australian, just ahead of Noriyuki Haga whilst Leon Haslam was seventh fastest on the Suzuki.
Aprilia Alitalia pair or Max Biaggi and Leon Camier was eighth and ninth fastest respectively whilst James Toseland’s return to World Superbikes continued to prove difficult, with the former MotoGP rider clocking the twelfth fastest time, 1.131 behind the leader.
