FIM plan to launch new video-on-demand service

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme is planning to launch a new “video on demand” service which will allow motorcycle fans to access exclusive video content from FIM, including MotoGP, World Superbike, Endurance, Motocross, Supercross, Trial, Enduro and Speedway.

The FIM is hoping to provide fans with a one-stop service for event footage, reviews and previews to create what has been described as an “unprecedented motorcycling video library”.

The site will feature a combination of live and VOD content, including footage from the latest events and footage from the FIM’s video archive, spanning over 10 years.

Race followers already have access to video content from MotoGP events, which is available via subscription, and World Superbikes races, which is available for free on the SBK TV service at the championship’s website but the new service is designed to unify the FIM’s video catalogue.

It’s believed that the new site will be based largely on a subscription model, although revenue will also be raised through advertising and sponsorships.

“This gives us a fantastic opportunity to engage motorcycle racing enthusiasts around the world,” said FIM marketing and communications director Olivier Godallier.

“It will mean millions of fans will be able to get their fix of the sport on-demand, whenever they want, wherever they want. We are very optimistic that this platform will not only deliver an excellent service to our existing community but also enable us to reach out to new target groups.”
