General tickets sell out for Silverstone GP

Silverstone has announced that general admission ‘Fan’ tickets for the Sunday of the 2010 AirAsia British Grand Prix (18-20 June) have now sold out.

Tickets for the first GP at Silverstone since 1986, have been in high demand and general admission tickets are now no longer available, although grandstand tickets – available from as little as £5 more than race day general admission tickets – are still on sale for all three days.

‘Fan’ tickets for Practice on Friday and Qualifying on Saturday are also still available from £20 and £40 respectively.

In order to make the next category of ticket more affordable, Silverstone has priced ‘Silver Grandstand’ tickets at £75 (for race day) – just £5 more than a race day general admission ticket would have cost.

Tickets can still be purchased in advance, for collection at the circuit, and will be available on the gate. Ticket holders will also have the option to upgrade their tickets during the event.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, commented, “We are really pleased with the way MotoGP tickets have been selling over the last few weeks and months. Demand has been very high as fans have made the most of advance ticket prices. We have worked extremely hard to deliver the best motorcycle Grand Prix experience for UK bike fans and we cannot wait for the event to start.

“We have allocated as much space as possible around the circuit to accommodate general admission ‘Fan’ tickets – far more for MotoGP than we do for F1, where we cannot give fans access to viewing areas in the middle of the circuit. We have also invested heavily in new spectator areas, including upgrading and building new banks for general access ticket holders, and opening up new spectator areas at Arena, Becketts, Copse, Vale, Luffield and the outside of Abbey. All of this has been done with the sole aim of getting fans closer to the action.

“The viewing experience for all fans is of utmost importance - so we do cap the crowd to ensure that everyone purchasing general admission ‘Fan’ tickets can watch the event in relative comfort. We are expecting a great event this weekend and I would stress that grandstand tickets are still available for all days. ”

Tickets for the 2010 AirAsia British Grand Prix are still available and can be purchased on the gate. For further information, or to purchase tickets in advance, visit www.silverstone.co.uk, or call 0844 3750 500
