Gibernau confirmed for Barcelona

Sete Gibernau has confirmed that he will be fit in time for the Barcelona Grand Prix on Sunday week following successful surgery on his collarbone.

The Spaniard was forced to miss Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix in Mugello and the French Grand Prix two weeks prior after breaking a collarbone during practice at Le Mans

The MotoGP veteran underwent surgery in Barcelona immediately after the French Grand Prix and was reported as “touch and go” for the Catalunya Grand Prix by doctors after having a metal plate inserted to the injury.

But Gibernau has since claimed that he will be on the grid in Barcelona in two weeks time – the scene of his tangle with Loris Capirossi in 2006.

“I’m good. I wouldn’t like to say exactly that I’m going to be perfect to ride a MotoGP bike, but we’ve been working very hard and I feel good,” Gibernau told the official MotoGP website.

“I’ve got the plate inside and I feel more comfortable with a plate than without, it’s been so many years… I feel good, so right now I’m just looking forward to the first practice session and to enjoying the grand prix. It’s very special for all of us and I can’t wait to jump on the bike.”
