Harris Breaks Three Bones In Foot
Karl Harris suffered a cut lip and three broken bones in his foot during a spectacular crash in Sunday’s second BSB race at Thruxton.
The Yamaha rider was struck by Tom Sykes’ out-of-control Suzuki, forcing organisers to stop the race whilst he received treatment from medics on the track and it was later revealed that 28-year-old had suffered three broken metatarsals and also required two stitches in his lip.
Sykes was able to line-up for the race restart following the incident and Harris himself spoke of the extent of his injuries following the incident.
Harris told MCN: “I’ve broken three small bones in my right foot. It’s not going to be that big a problem because I don’t use that foot much anyway, but it’ll stop me from going out running for my training.
“Toby Branfoot, the series doctor, told me it should be fine to ride at Oulton with a few painkillers inside me.
“Other than that I’ve got two stitches in my top lip and I’m suffering from a bit of whiplash – I’m contemplating going for one of those ‘no win, no fee’ claims against them for it,” he joked.
“I have to say a big thanks to all the medical staff and circuit marshall – nobody gives them enough credit for what they do so I want to give them a big shout.”
