Haslam hoping for local advantage

Leon Haslam is looking forward to having the bulk of the home support this weekend as he prepares to race at his “home” circuit of Donington Park.

The BMW rider, who lives just 20 minutes from the East Midlands circuit, has admitted that he is looking forward to being one of five Brits on show as WSB returns to Donington and is hoping that local knowledge can help him to improve on the third and fifth place finishes that he achieved in Australia a fortnight ago.

“Racing in England any time of the year is a great occasion for both the British fans and myself, so for sure I can’t wait to be back at Donington,” he claimed. “The weather conditions in the UK are not always in our favour but the track is only 20 minutes from my house and I have a lot of support in that area.

“This track requires extremely hard braking. Actually, when it comes to braking, Donington is one of a kind. I have completed countless laps there in the past – including on production bikes. I know this circuit like the back of my hand so I really am looking forward it and I hope we can make that next step forward with the bike and continue to push at the front.”
