Haslam quickest on day one in Portimao

Leon Haslam dominated proceedings in the first day of testing at Portimao today, topping the time charts in both sessions on the Alstare Suzuki.

Haslam posted a time of 1:43.023 in the morning session before clocking the day’s best time at 1:42.778 in the afternoon, nearly two tenths of a second quicker than the next best time of 1:42.960 set by Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow.

Jonathan Rea made it three Brits out of three at the top of the time sheet with 1:43.033 whilst James Toseland and Shane Byrne came finished with the fifth and sixth fastest times behind Max Biaggi. Byrne, riding the satellite Althea Ducati for the first time, finished ahead of the Xerox Ducati duo of Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio in seventh and eighth respectively.

Leon Camier on the Aprilia was 10^th whilst Tom Sykes was the quickest of the Kawasaki’s at 1:44.365.
