Haslam ready for Aragon challenge

Leon Haslam has admitted that he is looking forward to World Superbikes’ debut at Aragon this weekend, with the Brit hoping to be challenging at the front after a difficult weekend in Misano.

The BMW rider crashed out of contention in the first race last week, hurting his hand and breaking a bone in his foot, before bravely fighting back to finish fifth in the second race.

And the tough 28-year-old is looking forward to the challenge of racing at the track where he tested the S 1000 RR late last year.

“Aragón is quite interesting for us. A few of the teams have selected it as their test circuit and we tested there once last winter and did fairly well,” he claimed. “I feel that we’ve made a bit of progress now with the RR, so I’m actually looking forward to returning to a circuit where I’ve already tested. On top of that it is a new circuit for everyone, so it is quite exciting to see how things will go.

“The circuit is quite technical. In a lot of corners the radius hangs on to you, it is always an issue with grip over there and you also have some high-speed straights that lead to very, very tight corners. It has a mixture of things and a lot of different elevations. I think it will make for good racing, and we hope to be at the front.”
