Hill hops onto Pole at Oulton

Tommy Hill was the pole position winner at Oulton Park this afternoon, for round two of the British Superbike Championship.

With the qualifying outing split into three sessions, Michael Laverty held the advantage in the opening session, stealing the spot form eventual pole setter Hill. Hill also set the pace in the second session, before topping the times when it really mattered in the final qualifying adventure.

After taking the challenge to Hill in each session, Laverty set the second fastest time, with John Hopkins on his Samsung Crescent Racing machine third. Loris Baz set a strong fourth fastest time ahead of tomorrow’s first race, whilst Josh Brookes fought to fifth place for race one.

Stuart Easton had been fighting for honours earlier in the outing, however recorded the sixth quickest time in the final qualifying session. Seventh place went the way of race winner last time out Shne Byrne, with James Westmoreland eighth. HM Plant Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari secured ninth on the grid, with Michael Rutter completing the top ten.
