Hopkins hoping on testing experience
John Hopkins is hoping that pre-season testing can pay-off this weekend as he looks to build on his success at Oulton Park two weeks ago.
Hopkins became the first American in the history of British Superbikes to record a race victory with a race two win at Oulton Park, improving on his second place finish from earlier in the day.
But although Hopkins is not getting carried away with his Oulton success, knowing that there is still a big learning curve for him in BSB, the Samsung Suzuki rider will have the advantage of some track knowledge this weekend – something that he doesn’t have much of in the UK.
Hopkins took part in a pre-season test at the North East circuit and will be hoping to put that knowledge to his advantage as he looks to establish himself as a contender for the final six showdown.
“Croft will be more of the same for me – more searching for the race lines, more learning about how BSB works,” claimed the former MotoGP rider.
“We came here during pre-season testing so I know something of the track. And I know to respect it. There are some tricky sections – really bumpy – so I’ll not go too fast too soon. It’s going to be a weekend of detailed study.”
