Hopkins set for MotoGP return
John Hopkins has secured himself a place back on the MotoGP grid having agreed to ride for the new FB Corse team.
Hopkins, who lost his ride in MotoGP after Kawasaki pulled out ahead on the 2009 season, was once again left without a ride after the Stiggy Honda team withdrew from World Superbikes due to financial problems.
The FB Corse team, who have built up a strong reputation in Italian Superbikes, are expected to officially confirm their MotoGP entry at an unveiling in Milan in late January.
It’s expected that the team will use a three-cylinder engine based on that used by BMW during their short-lived MotoGP presence. The use of a smaller three-cylinder engine will however allow them to benefit from weight concessions under FIM regulations.
The team is also expected to put forward an entry for the new Moto2 championship
