Hopkins is keeping quiet until an official announcement.

I have read nearly all articles posted and find it absolutely crazy how people are stating that I have announced this or said that when in fact I have avoided ALL phone-calls from the media until time permits.

Kawasaki rider John Hopkins has hit out at the speculation surrounding his future by insisting that nothing has been discussed regarding a career away from the financially troubled factory team.

Kawasaki look set to pull the plug on their MotoGP operation for 2009 as the Japanese manufacturer seeks to cut costs in reaction to the economic downturn, casting doubts over the future of Hopkins and teammate Marco Melandri.

Kawasaki were expected to confirm their decision in a press statement on Monday although no comment has been forthcoming from the company so far, fuelling speculation of a sale to the 125 and 250cc class team Aspar.

Rumour-mongers have also linked Hopkins with a move away from the team, with World Superbikes Championship a most likely destination but the American has hit out at those claims, stating that no discussions have taken place.

“As you all know, everything is up in the air and people want answers,” wrote Hopkins on his personal web blog. “Everything from here is now in my managers hands.

“I have read nearly all articles posted and find it absolutely crazy how people are stating that I have announced this or said that when in fact I have avoided ALL phone-calls from the media until time permits.

“There will be an official press release held very soon where we can confirm or deny all rumours. I will let you all now as soon as I get the go ahead.
