Hungarian GP cancelled
The Hungarian Grand Prix has been cancelled again because of construction problems, MotoGP organisers have confirmed.
The event, due to take place at the newly constructed Balatonring on September, will now be moved to the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain.
Hungary was due to host a MotoGP round in 2009 but construction delays meant that the event had to be pushed back to 2010. Since then however, construction delays and political wranglings have continued to surround the project, forcing MotoGP promoter Dorna to pull the plug on Hungary for a second season in succession.
Dorna have however confirmed that this cancellation will not jeopardise Hungary’s future prospects for hosting MotoGP, with the door still open for 2011 and beyond.
The cancellation means that Spain will now host four MotoGP rounds in 2010, with the others being at Barcelona, Jerez and Valencia.
