Kawasaki confirm Hacking for Misano and Donington
Jamie Hacking has been confirmed as a Kawasaki rider for the next two rounds of the World Superbike championship following his promising performance at Miller Park.
The British-born AMA Daytona rider stood in for the injured Makoto Tamada at Salt Lake City on Sunday and impressed with a seventh place finish in race one – Kawasaki’s best individual race finish in World Superbikes since September 2007.
After the result Hacking expressed his desire to test himself further in WSB, with his only previous experience outside of the American championship being a wildcard MotoGP ride with Kawasaki at Laguna Seca last season and PBM Kawasaki bosses have handed the 37-year-old Lancastrian his wish with rides at Misano and a “home” appearance at Donington Park on June 28.
The decision came after Kawasaki team bosses decided to give Tamada, who suffered hand injuries at the Monza round of the championship, a prolonged period of recuperation before the official Imola test session (scheduled for 15 – 16 July) and the subsequent race at Brno, on July 26.
Hacking’s position as replacement was secured as the AMA championship takes a six-week break following this weekend’s round at Road America Circuit in Wisconsin.
