Laverty to partner Biaggi at Aprilia
Eugene Laverty will partner Max Biaggi in the 2012 World Superbike championship after signing a deal with the Aprilia factory team.
Laverty, who impressed in his rookie season with Yamaha by finishing fourth in the rider’s standings, level on points with Biaggi, has penned a two-year contract with the 2010 manufacturers championship winners, taking him to the end of the 2013 season.
The Irishman was previously without a ride following the decision by Yamaha to pull out of World Superbikes for 2012 and was expected to move to the PATA Aprilia satellite team.
Laverty had also been linked with a move to MotoGP with Tech3 Yamaha, before the team confirmed Andrea Dovizioso alongside Cal Crutchlow.
