Lorenzo tells fans of shoulder surgery via Twitter

Jorge Lorenzo has undergone an operation to remove a metal plate from his left collarbone, the Spaniard has revealed via Twitter.

Lorenzo, who has had a number of high-profile crashes since graduating to premier class in 2008, revealed earlier this week that he had undergone an operation to remove the metal on his collarbone, with the procedure reported as being a success.

Lorenzo stated earlier this week “Hi people! This afternoon I have a little operation to take me off the metal of my left collarbone. When it finished I will write you.”

Messages of support followed before Lorenzo “tweeted” “I just wake up! The operation has been fine” some eleven hours later.

The Fiat Yamaha rider, who tweets in both English and Spanish, left hospital two days later, stating “I feel much better, still some pain and I can’t move so much because the points can [break] out!
