Lorenzo confident of Brno success
Jorge Lorenzo is another rider who has used the MotoGP summer break to regain his fitness as he prepares to continue his title battle with Valentino Rossi.
The Spaniard, who sits second in the rider’s standings behind his teammate, was unharmed despite missing an opportunity to close the gap on Rossi with a crash at Donington Park three weeks ago but has still welcomed the albeit shorter summer break.
After some epic battles with Rossi so far this season, not least in Barcelona and Sachsenring, Lorenzo is keen to get back on the bike at Brno this weekend and, having secured three wins in the Czech Republic in his 125 and 250cc days, the Mallorcan is talking up his chances once again.
“I’m really excited about this race after what feels like a long time without one. It was good to have a bit of a break and I used the time to work on my fitness and to completely recover from the injuries I had after Laguna, in the gym and with my physiotherapist. The result is that I feel much better than I did in Germany and England and I’m excited to be getting back on the bike.
“I like Brno and I have had good results in the past there, including three wins. This time my aim is to fight hard and get back on the podium.”
Lorenzo’s crew chief Daniele Romagnoli was also in confident mood ahead of the visit to the Czech Republic, adding: “A little break to recharge the batteries has been useful for us all before the last seven races. This has given Jorge the chance to improve his fitness after his Laguna Seca injuries and he will be in good shape for Brno.
“All the team and Jorge want to forget the ‘zero point’ of Donington and we have a great motivation to catch Valentino at the top of the championship!”
