Lorenzo could miss entire pre season

Jorge Lorenzo looks set to miss the entire MotoGP pre-season testing campaign after his manager Hector Martin claimed that his hand injury was not healing as expected.

Lorenzo was ruled out of test in Sepang next week after dislocating his thumb in a motocross accident in Barcelona but after going back to hospital for a routine check, Martin believes that the Majorcan could also miss the floodlit test in Qatar on March 18-19.

With the Jerez test withdrawn for cost cutting reasons as well as a ban on all other testing, that means that Lorenzo will not get a chance to put the Yamaha M1 through its paces before the season opener in Losail in April.

“At the moment there are serious doubts as to whether Jorge will be fully recovered for the Qatar test,” Martin said. “We must wait and see how his injury and rehabilitation go after he has his stitches removed, which will be next Friday or Monday.”
