Lorenzo fastest in Brno test
Jorge Lorenzo posted the fastest time of the day in the post-race test before weather brought an abrupt end to proceedings in Brno.
Lorenzo posted a time of 1:56.269 early in the day on his current Yamaha M1, easily undercutting Dani Pedrosa’s pole-qualifying time of 1:56.508, before the heavens opened over the Czech circuit.
The rain meant that Lorenzo had limited opportunity to test Yamaha’s 2011 upgrades, posting just seven laps on the new machine before the rain forced riders off the circuit at around 3pm local time.
Dani Pedrosa had six laps on the updated Honda RC212V whilst Ben Spies also sampled some of Yamaha’s 2011 upgrades, ahead of an expected switch to the factory team next season. Rossi, who is leaving Yamaha for Ducati next season, and Colin Edwards, who is expected to leave Tech 3, only had access to their current 2010 machines.
Hiroshi Aoyama returned to action after missing the last six rounds with injury, with the only absentee being LCR Honda’s Randy de Puniet. Suzuki’s Álvaro Bautista made 24 laps on his GSV-R, the fewest of the day as he continued to recover from the practice crash he suffered on Saturday.
