Lorenzo looking to bounce back for Yamaha milestone
Jorge Lorenzo is looking to bounce back from the disappointment of Silverstone at Assen this weekend, as Yamaha celebrate 50 years of racing.
Lorenzo lost the lead in the MotoGP rider’s standings two weeks ago after crashing out of the British Grand Prix, falling behind Casey Stoner in the title race.
And the defending champion admitted that he needs to put pressure on Stoner, who won the British Grand Prix at a canter, at a track that he looks forward to more than any other.
Lorenzo won at Assen last season and had secured wins in both the 250cc and 125cc classes in the Netherlands, and the 24-year-old is looking for a repeat performance.
“Assen is my favourite track where I’ve won in all categories and also last season,” he said. “This year it is very special coming here because we celebrate the 50th Anniversary!
“Now we are in second position in the championship, we come here looking to put pressure on the leader. I need to do the same job as I’ve done before with maximum effort. The team is focused and I wish to come back to finish at least on the podium.”
