Lorenzo looking to close gap on Stoner

Jorge Lorenzo hoping to close the gap on championship leader Casey Stoner as the MotoGP season continues at Indianapolis.

Lorenzo heads to the USA just 32 points behind Stoner with seven rounds of the season remaining, knowing that he has a strong record at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway having secured podium finishes on all three of his visits.

One of those three podiums included a victory in 2009 and, given that he has never finished behind Stoner on this circuit, the defending champion is confident of closing the gap on the Australian.

“Indy is a track I really enjoy,” said the 24-year-old.

“I treasure wonderful moments like the podiums in 2008 and 2010, and my victory in 2009 wearing my Captain America’s helmet.

“I am now in good shape and am ready to regain the ground we lost in Brno, where a mistake put a distance between Casey and I.

“I am really looking forward to going back to the US and riding my M1.”
