Lorenzo samples Aragon circuit
Jorge Lorenzo sampled the new Motorland Circuit in Aragon this week and left convinced that the Spanish circuit will prove to be a good host for round 13 of the MotoGP championship.
The Motorland circuit in Aragon, northern Spain, will host round 13 of the championship after the Balatonring in Hungary failed to meet construction deadlines, although the Aragon venue is still undergoing some minor modifications to make it suitable for MotoGP
Since opening in 2008, the Motorland circuit has hosted a round of the World Series by Renault and from 2011, will also host a round of the World Superbike championship.
Lorenzo spent 80 minutes on track on a Yamaha R1 divided across two spells and the championship leader was full of praise for the championship’s newest venue.
“It is a fun circuit with very different turns. The first turns are similar to Turkey and others seem like Misano. I hope that people who live close to here come and support the Spanish riders. I’m looking forward to racing here,” he told MotoGP.com.
Lorenzo also discussed his role in helping with the development of the M1, which will become a more increased one following the announcement of Valentino Rossi’s departure for Ducati at the end of the current season.
“I don’t preoccupy myself with what people say. Now I have to be especially focused because as well as the fight for the Championship and building on what I have already achieved, I have to develop the bike,”
