I believe I can deliver.

Relentless Suzuki have confirmed Ian Lowry as Atushi Watanabe’s partner in the British Superbike Championship for 2009.

The 22-year-old will upgrade from Supersport competition to Superbike racing for the new season, with Omagh rider BJ Toal taking his place in Supersport class.

The team’s Superstock ride will be occupied by Cameron Donald next season.

Speaking at the announcement, Lowry claimed that he could deliver on the privateer Suzuki in elite domestic competition having enjoyed some success in the support classes.

“I am delighted to be staying with Relentless TAS Suzuki, and to get a crack at the British Superbike class,” said Lowry.

“I watched BSB on TV as a kid and to be racing in it next year is unbelievable. I believe I can deliver.”

Philip Neill, team principal, said Lowry would undergo an extensive training and testing programme.

“We want to give Ian the best opportunity to succeed at the highest level of British championship racing,” said Neill.

“After three successful supersport campaigns for Relentless Suzuki, I believe Ian has a bright future in the superbike class.”
