Mamola to make British racing debut in 2010
Dakota Mamola, the 15-year old son of multiple Grand Prix race winner Randy will make his debut in the British 125GP Championship this season.
Dakota has joined the KRP team this season as he begins his journey to replicate his father’s achievements, which saw 13 Grand Prix victories and 57 podiums. The Grand Prix championship eluded him however, with many believing the Californian to be the best rider never to have won the rider’s championship.
Dakota will be surrounded by Grand Prix pedigree in 2010, with his team mate Taylor Mackenzie the son of another former factory GP rider and 3-times BSB Champion Niall. The team is also supported by last year’s 125cc World Championship runner-up Bradley Smith.
“It is fantastic news for the Championship and racing as a whole that Dakota joins us this season,” claimed Team Manager Mark Keen. ”He has a famous family name, but he brings with him his own talent, focus and passion. He’s just a good kid.”
“Dakota Mamola joining the KRP team means a lot to me,” added Smith. “I am nervous because we have become good friends, but more than anything I am excited because Dakota has great talent and now we’re part of the Mamola history. How exciting is that?”
Both Dakota and Randy will be making an appearance at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show at the ExCeL this week.
