MIST descends on BSB
The British Superbike Championship will have an extra Suzuki in the paddock in 2009 after MIST Suzuki became the latest team to enter the competition.
The new team will run a single Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the 2009 championship with 22-year-old former FIM and European Superstock rider Matt Bond on board, taking the BSB entry list to 30 ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch on April 12.
MIST Suzuki has recently been regular participators in the FIM Superstock Cup and European Superstock 600 Championship and team owner Mike Edwards is confident that their experience in those series will prepare them for the challenges of the British national series.
“Matt and the team last raced in the UK on an SV650 back in 2005,” he said. “After three years racing in Europe and competing with the best young riders in the world we are looking forward to taking the next step with a move in to the Superbike class in the British Championship.
“Fresh from our recent test of the new GSXR1000 K9 we are confident of doing well in the British Superbike Cup Championship, despite not having long before the first round.
“We have put together a strong team to build and run the bike for the season ahead.”
