Motorpoint Yamaha move back to Cartagena
Motorpoint Yamaha will head back to Cartagena this morning after unseasonal snow in Eastern Spain ended any realistic prospect of testing at Guadix.
After testing in Cartagena last week, the BSB teams moved to Guadix for the second warm-weather test, only to wake up this morning to a blanket of snow effectively closing off the circuit, postponing testing on the opening day.
Although snow has now been cleared at the circuit and the forecast for tomorrow is favourable, temperatures are expected to drop overnight, prompting the Motorsport team to pack-up and make use of the facilities at Cartagena, where the team will spend the day testing.
“We woke up this morning to snow and we weren’t sure how long it would take to clear so the team decided the best option was to return to Cartagena and try and carry on where we left off on Sunday,” rider Neil Hodgson told the BSB website. “We have arrived back at the circuit now, so we are going to get everything set-up then prepare to get back on track tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.”
“It was a nightmare for us this morning as we have made real progress in Cartagena and I was looking forward to the test at Guadix as I hadn’t ridden the track before,” added teammate Dan Linfoot. “We now hopefully have a further two days here before we come back so I want to be able to push harder and really go for it. We don’t have much planned for the rest of the day, but I am pleased to say there is no snow here and I am going to get out and cycle a few laps of the track tonight to get in some extra early practice!”
At time of writing, no other teams have declared that they will be relocating back to Cartagena.
