No WSB ride for Mladin

AMA Superbike champion Matt Mladin will not be riding in World Superbikes in 2009, the rider has confirmed.

The Australian, who retired from the AMA series earlier this season in a row over circuit safety, was thought to be close to agreeing a deal with the Reitwagen satellite BMW racing team for 2010 after revealing via his personal feed on Twitter that he had received “a couple of world superbike offers” and that one of them was “very good in regards to machinery”.

The speculation surrounding Mladin didn’t relent even after Reitwagen confirmed the signing of compatriot Andrew Pitt but the 37-year-old has since revealed that any hopes of a move to WSB have ended.

In another post on the micro-blogging site Twitter, Mladin wrote: “No return for MM to racing in World SBK. Please take me back DMG (obi wan), you are my only hope ;-)”

The revelation means that Mladin is unlikely to race in any major championship in 2010.
